And lo, it has come to pass! Time for the annual Licks Of The Legends plan for the year-
January - Mark Knopfler (Alchemy) - well overdue, and Alchemy has some insane playing
February - Tony Iommi - I know shamefully little Sabbath, time to right that wrong!
March - Joe Pass - After having dipped my toe in Jazz with Charlie Christian, I'm planning on getting an entire foot in this year...
April - Peter Green, " A Hard Road" - After John Mayall's Beano album with Clapton, there came another British blues guitar hero, and before leaving to create Fleetwood Mac, he recorded this beast of a blues album..
May - Jerry Donahue - Ever seen "Twang Bang Kerrang"? He's the guy who does "The Beak & The Claw". Nuff said.
June - SRV, "Family Style" - carrying on the SRV odyssey
July - Hendrix, "Band Of Gypsys" - after Electric Ladyland there came a new era....
August - Django Reinhardt - again, shamefully overdue. I shall not be removing any fingers in the interests of authenticity, however
September - Julian Lage - Jazz again, but modern - thanks to my student Matt for putting me on to this chap.
October - Neil Schon - it's time for a Journey!
November - Dave Gilmour "Wish You Were Here" - revisiting an old fave, and this time focusing on one classic album at a time
December - Nicolo Pagannini - like Bach, not a guitarist, but I have learnt so much from JSB that trying my hand at the works of this virtuoso violinist is something to look forward too...
